{"id":2235,"date":"2024-11-13T19:48:55","date_gmt":"2024-11-13T19:48:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/proteo.ca\/?page_id=2235"},"modified":"2026-10-23T14:25:32","modified_gmt":"2026-10-23T14:25:32","slug":"becoming-a-member","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/proteo.ca\/en\/becoming-a-member\/","title":{"rendered":"Becoming a member"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Membership for regular and associate members<\/h2>\n<p><strong>To join the network, applicants who meet the criteria (<a href=\"https:\/\/proteo.ca\/content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/bylaws-proteo-june-2026.pdf\">see bylaws document<\/a>) must submit a written application (in a single PDF document), including the following documents:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A letter of no more than two (2) pages, describing how their research program fits into PROTEO&#8217;s research focus;<\/li>\n<li>An up-to-date CV, clearly indicating affiliations, publications, research grants and\/or contracts, students supervised over the past five (5) years, and any other relevant information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Candidates&#8217; applications will be evaluated at the next scheduled GA<\/strong>. A decision will be sent in writing within 15 working days following this GA.<\/p>\n<h2>Membership for industrial members<\/h2>\n<p><strong>To become a member, the application must be supported by a regular member of PROTEO and submitted to the executive committee.<\/strong> The following documents are required (in a single PDF file):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A letter of support from a regular member of PROTEO endorsing the application;<\/li>\n<li>The applicant\u2019s updated resume.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Applications will be reviewed at the next executive committee meeting.<\/strong> A decision will be communicated in writing within 15 business days following the meeting. The effective date will be the first day of the month following the meeting.<\/p>\n<h2>Membership in the PROTEO Student, Postdoctoral Fellow and Research Professional Community<\/h2>\n<p>Any student or postdoctoral fellow supervised or co-supervised by a PROTEO regular member, as well as any research professional employed under a contract to carry out research activities under the supervision of a PROTEO regular member, automatically becomes a member of the PROTEO student, postdoctoral fellow and research professional community.<\/p>\n<p><em>At the beginning of each term, regular members receive a registration form to share with new members of their laboratories so they can provide their contact information and be added to the PROTEO mailing list.
