Guidelines for awarding intra-PROTEO internship grants
This program aims to provide financial support to PROTEO students or post-docs wishing to acquire practical knowledge and/or use cutting-edge infrastructure by doing an internship in a PROTEO member’s laboratory.
Description of scholarships
- Scholarships of up to $1,500 are awarded for an internship of up to 10 days.
- An internship is a practical training opportunity offered exclusively to PROTEO students and postdoctoral fellows who wish to acquire new techniques and skills in the laboratories of a PROTEO member researcher. Financial support is available exclusively for internships at institutions outside the applicant’s home town.
Eligibility requirements
- All PROTEO student members, under the direction of a regular member, enrolled full-time at the graduate level and all PROTEO postdoctoral fellows enrolled full-time are eligible.
- A student cannot receive an intra-PROTEO internship scholarship more than once, for the same study cycle (M.Sc. vs. Ph.D.). Therefore, a student who has received an intra-PROTEO internship scholarship for a master’s degree may receive an intra-PROTEO internship scholarship for a doctorate.
- A candidate may only apply for the scholarship if his or her supervisor has read the application file, approved the application, and agreed to pay the remaining costs of the candidate’s participation in the internship if the scholarship does not cover all costs, in accordance with the estimated costs given in the application form.
- Applications must reach the PROTEO coordinator before the start of the course to ensure that funds are available.
Application submission
Payment of the scholarship
- Payment of the scholarship (in the form of reimbursement of expenses) is made on presentation of supporting documents for eligible expenses (up to a total of $1,500), and according to the terms and conditions set by PROTEO once the internship is over (see Appendix Eligible Expenses).
